Prominent YouTuber Anvesh has brought to public attention that several film celebrities have been promoting a betting app named “Govinda” for the past few years, which is still operational. He raised concerns over the misuse of the sacred name of Lord Venkateswara in branding the app and appealed to Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and Minister Nara Lokesh to take action. Anvesh also posted video clips related to the Govinda app on social media, highlighting its promotional content.
In his appeal, Anvesh urged the leaders to protect innocent youth from falling prey to such betting platforms. Responding to the tweet, Minister Nara Lokesh expressed anguish over the impact of betting apps on people’s lives. He stated that he had heard numerous reports of young individuals ruining their futures due to addiction to gambling platforms.
Nara Lokesh emphasized the need to put an end to this menace. He asserted that raising continuous awareness and enforcing strict measures against such apps is the only long-term solution. He further stated that the government is working towards establishing a comprehensive anti-betting policy that could serve as a model for the entire nation.
He assured that all possible legal avenues are being explored to eradicate the influence and operations of such betting apps.
