The hassle of visiting Regional Transport Authority (RTA) offices or depending on middlemen for driving licence renewal may soon become a thing of the past. The Telangana government has introduced a new facility that allows applicants to submit renewal applications directly from their mobile phones, eliminating the need for in-person visits to the RTA offices.
To initiate the process, users must first visit the Transport Department’s official website. From there, they should click on the ‘Licence’ option. After selecting ‘Driving Licence’, a new page will open. On that page, users must scroll down and click on the option titled ‘Renewal of Driving Licence’. Following this, selecting the option ‘Click here to book the slot’ will proceed to the next step.
On the newly opened page, applicants are required to fill in their driving licence number, place of issue, date of birth, and mobile number in the designated fields. Upon clicking ‘Request OTP’, a one-time password will be sent to the registered mobile number. After entering the OTP along with the displayed captcha, clicking on ‘Get Details’ will display the applicant’s information. After reviewing the details, the user must click ‘Confirm’.
The next window will show a list of available dates. The applicant must choose a convenient date and proceed with the payment. Once the payment is completed, the slot will be booked. The confirmation receipt should be printed and taken along with the original driving licence and an identity card to the RTA office for physical verification. At the office, officials will verify the submitted documents and process the renewal of the driving licence.
