KTR credits Yadadri Thermal Power Plant to KCR’s vision..

As the Congress government dedicated Unit-1 of the Yadadri Thermal Power Plant (YTPP) to the nation, BRS working president KT Rama Rao termed it a result of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s vision and relentless efforts. He said the project, which is an engineering wonder, was another indelible mark of Chandrashekhar Rao on Telangana.

Taking to X, Rama Rao reminded that with a planned capacity of 4,000 MW (5×800 MW), the YTPP is India’s largest State-run thermal power project. He stated that the State government had awarded an order worth Rs 20,400 crore to BHEL, which is the biggest-ever contract for a public sector undertaking in the Indian power sector.

He said the project was designed to ensure 24×7 power supply across all sectors, effectively ending power cuts and outages in Telangana. He pointed to the significant growth in the installed power capacity of Telangana from 7,778 MW in 2014 to nearly 20,000 MW in 2023, within just 10 years.
