Hyderabad Police have arrested Immadi Ravi, the administrator of the controversial movie streaming website Ibomma, and subsequently presented him before the Nampally Court. The CCS Police took Immadi Ravi into custody earlier in the morning in the Kukatpally area. The arrest follows serious allegations of copyright infringement, as the website was known for releasing newly launched movies within minutes of their theatrical release.
The Ibomma website, which was reportedly being operated from the Caribbean Islands, caused significant losses to film producers. Producers filed a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police, stating that the website’s quick release of new movies was deterring audiences from attending theaters. Following his arrest and interrogation, the CCS Police have also frozen ₹3 crore in cash found in his bank account, which is believed to be connected to the illegal operation of the website.
The arrest comes after the Ibomma administrators had previously challenged the police. Earlier, even former Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar had issued a warning to the administrators. Ignoring the warnings, the operators had publicly challenged the police to catch them. Following the arrest, Immadi Ravi was produced before the Nampally Court.
