The Telangana State Election Commission (SEC) announced that the upcoming Gram Panchayat elections in the state will be conducted in three phases on December 11, 14, and 17, 2025. The counting of votes for each phase will take place on the same day as the polling. The entire election process, which will be held on a non-party basis, is set to begin with the issuance of notices from November 27 and will conclude on December 17.
The elections will involve voters choosing from 12,728 Sarpanch seats and 1,12,242 Ward Member posts across 31 districts and 564 mandals. Approximately 1.66 crore rural voters are eligible to participate, comprising about 81.4 lakh male and 85.1 lakh female voters. The SEC Commissioner, Rani Kumudini, emphasized that the phased approach was adopted for administrative and logistical convenience to ensure the smooth conduct of the polls. Voting will be conducted using traditional ballot papers and ballot boxes.
The detailed timeline for the first phase shows nominations opening on November 27 and closing on November 29. Scrutiny will follow on November 30, and the withdrawal of nominations is allowed until December 3. Polling for the first phase is scheduled for December 11 between 7 AM and 1 PM. Similar nomination, scrutiny, and withdrawal windows have been set for the subsequent phases, leading up to polling on December 14 and 17, respectively. The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has been activated from the date of the notification to ensure all election-related activities adhere to the rules.
