The offer comes from Optiver, a renowned multinational trading firm based in the Netherlands. Edward’s journey to this massive offer began with a successful two-month internship at the company, after which he cleared a rigorous interview process to land the role of Software Engineer. He is set to begin his professional career in July after completing his degree.
This placement season has been exceptionally bright for the institute. Beyond Edward’s record offer, two other students secured impressive packages of ₹1.1 crore per annum each. Furthermore, institute sources revealed that during the first phase of the placement drive, four additional students received pre-placement offers (PPOs) ranging between ₹75 lakh and ₹1 crore. These figures highlight the growing global demand for engineering talent from Hyderabad.
Before this year, no student in IIT Hyderabad’s 17-year history had crossed the ₹1 crore mark in annual salary packages. This surge in high-value offers reflects the institution’s rising academic standards and the technical prowess of its students. The success of Edward and his peers has not only brought pride to the city but also positioned IIT Hyderabad as a premier hub for top-tier global recruitment.
