Senior Congress leader T. Jeevan Reddy has expressed deep resentment against the party high command, leading to a significant political stir in Telangana amidst the municipal election season. The veteran politician, who has been a loyalist for over four decades, questioned whether following Rahul Gandhi’s principles was his “mistake.” His frustration stems from the Jagtial municipal ticket allocation, where he alleges that committed Congress workers who carried the party flag for ten years are being sidelined in favor of associates of BRS MLA Sanjay Kumar.
Jeevan Reddy highlighted that while the Congress is currently in power in the state, the internal discipline is being compromised by including defected leaders in strategic discussions. He specifically pointed out the irony of BRS MLA Sanjay attending meetings at Gandhi Bhavan to finalize candidate lists, despite previously filing affidavits claiming to be a BRS member to avoid disqualification. Reddy argued that the final list of candidates was altered at the last minute, replacing long-standing Congress activists with individuals who have never held the party flag, leading to the withdrawal of the Jagtial Town Congress President from the race.
Emphasizing his long-standing dedication, Jeevan Reddy recalled his battles against KCR during the Telangana movement and his solo fight in the Legislative Council for five years. He stated that it is his responsibility to protect the rights of grassroots workers who suffered under the previous regime. He has reportedly written to AICC leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, urging them to intervene and notice the “injustice” being meted out to loyalists. The veteran leader dared the party to take action against him for questioning these irregularities, asserting that his commitment to the “Jai Samvidhan” (Victory to Constitution) ideology remains unshaken.
