Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy launched a fierce campaign offensive in Miryalaguda on Wednesday, urging citizens to accept any incentives offered by the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) but to cast their votes for the Congress party. Addressing a massive public gathering, the Chief Minister alleged that BRS leaders had amassed vast fortunes by “looting public money” during their decade-long tenure. He stated that since the money originated from the public, people should have no qualms about taking cash or gifts offered during the municipal election campaign, while ultimately supporting the “Praja Palana” (People’s Governance) of the Congress.
The Chief Minister’s speech was marked by a blistering personal attack on former CM K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), whom he accused of prioritizing luxury over the poor. Reddy claimed that while KCR constructed a palatial farmhouse spanning a thousand acres and a multi-crore residence in Hyderabad, his government failed to deliver promised double-bedroom houses to the underprivileged. He further criticized the BRS leadership’s response to the tragic SLBC tunnel accident, alleging that instead of showing empathy for the victims, the “KCR family” sought to politicize the disaster to stall crucial infrastructure projects.
Turning his attention to the controversial phone-tapping scandal, Revanth Reddy accused the previous regime of gross privacy violations, claiming they intercepted private conversations of judges, journalists, and even film stars. He questioned the morality of the BRS leadership, asking what right they had to invade the personal lives of citizens. Reddy concluded by dismissing KCR’s stature in Telangana politics, vehemently rejecting the idea of the former CM being a “father figure” to the state and asserting that the Congress remains the only force committed to the welfare of the common man.
