Unexpected Turn in TG Municipal Polls: Pawan Kalyan Cancels Election Campaign

In a significant development for the upcoming Telangana Municipal Elections, JanaSena Party (JSP) chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan has cancelled his scheduled campaign tour. Originally, the JSP high command had announced that Pawan would participate in a two-day campaign on February 7 and 8, 2026, to bolster support for JSP and BJP alliance candidates. His presence was highly anticipated in urban areas, where his popularity among the youth was expected to give the alliance a major boost.

While the specific details of his itinerary were being finalized, the sudden cancellation was attributed to “unavoidable personal reasons” and a busy political schedule in Andhra Pradesh. This news was reportedly confirmed by BJP sources, causing a wave of disappointment among the candidates in the 336 wards where JanaSena has fielded contestants. Many local leaders had pinned their hopes on Pawan’s charismatic public meetings to tilt the scales in their favor before the polling on February 11.

Despite his absence from the ground, Pawan Kalyan has reiterated his full support for the BJP-JSP alliance. Previously, key BJP leaders like Union Minister Kishan Reddy and State President Ramchander Rao had met with him in Hyderabad to coordinate the election strategy. For now, the local units of both parties are moving forward with their independent campaign schedules to maintain momentum ahead of the vote counting on February 13.
