AP Transport Department Partners with Maruti Suzuki for Automated Driving Test Tracks

The Andhra Pradesh Transport Department has taken a significant step toward improving road safety by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Maruti Suzuki India Limited. Under this partnership, Maruti Suzuki will set up state-of-the-art Automated Driving Test Tracks (ADTTs) in four key cities: Eluru, Ongole, Vizianagaram, and Anakapalli. This initiative, part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, aims to modernize the licensing process in alignment with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s vision for a tech-driven and transparent administration.

These automated tracks are designed to eliminate human intervention and bias from the driving test process. Utilizing advanced technology such as high-definition cameras, RFID sensors, and real-time analytics, the system will precisely monitor every move made by the applicant. Evaluation will be strictly based on the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR), ensuring that only those with genuine driving skills obtain a license. Results will be automatically updated via the ‘SARATHI’ software, leaving no room for manual errors or manipulation.

As per the agreement, Maruti Suzuki will manage and maintain these tracks for a period of three years while providing technical training to transport department personnel. In return, the state government will provide the necessary land, electricity, and civil infrastructure. This collaboration is expected to significantly reduce road accidents across the state by ensuring that only qualified drivers take to the roads, thereby fostering a culture of safe and disciplined driving in Andhra Pradesh.
