Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha launched a scathing attack on the previous YSRCP government, alleging a massive scam involving the adulteration of ghee used in the sacred Tirumala Laddu Prasadam. Speaking at the TDP headquarters in Mangalagiri on Friday, February 6, 2026, she described Jagan Mohan Reddy’s five-year rule as the “address for adulteration.” Anitha expressed deep outrage, stating that the sanctity of Tirumala was compromised and the sentiments of millions of Hindus were hurt for political and financial gain.
The Home Minister presented four key reports to substantiate the claims of corruption. She noted that a 2022 report from CFTRI Mysore initially found palm oil in the ghee, while subsequent findings from the NDDB (National Dairy Development Board) confirmed the presence of animal fat. Furthermore, she cited an NDRI report suggesting the substance used was not even ghee but a “chemical mass,” and mentioned that the Supreme Court-monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) had also verified these irregularities. Anitha criticized YSRCP leaders for their “shameful” counter-attacks despite such documented scientific evidence.
Anitha directly held former TTD Chairman YV Subba Reddy responsible for the ₹254 crore scam, alleging that tender rules were intentionally weakened to benefit specific contractors. She questioned how such a large-scale operation could occur without his explicit approval. Additionally, she revealed that the same adulterated laddus were sent to the Ayodhya Ram Mandir, calling it a grave sin. Concluding her press meet, the Home Minister warned that any unauthorized ‘consolation tours’ (Paramarsha Yatras) intended to cause public unrest would be met with strict legal action.
