Andhra Pradesh Congress President YS Sharmila launched a scathing attack on the TDP-led coalition government following the Governor’s address to the state assembly. Terming the speech a “hollow document” filled with fabrications, she accused the government of forcing the Governor to deliver “blatant lies” to cover up their 19-month administrative failure. Sharmila remarked that the address lacked any clear direction for state development and felt more like a poorly edited version of the election manifesto rather than a serious policy statement.
Sharmila particularly targeted the “Super Six” promises, labeling them a “Super Flop.” She pointed out that the promised monthly unemployment allowance of ₹3,000 remains non-existent, while millions of students and farmers are being “cheated” under schemes like Thalliki Vandanam and Annadata Sukhibhava. She further criticized the government for renaming Aarogyasri as a “Universal Health Policy,” effectively killing a lifeline for 1.43 crore families. On the infrastructure front, she expressed deep concern over the Polavaram project, alleging that the government has “removed its soul” by reducing the dam height to 41.15 meters.
Key Criticisms and Challenges:
-
Broken Promises: She highlighted the absence of the “Aadabidda” scheme, which promised ₹1,500 monthly to women, and mocked the government’s claim of creating 5 lakh women entrepreneurs as “laughable.”
-
Youth & Employment: Sharmila termed the Mega DSC a “Deceptive DSC” and noted that while calendars are changing, the promised “Job Calendar” is nowhere to be seen.
-
Challenge to Jagan: Turning her fire toward her brother and YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy, she dared him to resign if he lacked the courage to attend the assembly and fight for the people’s agenda. She criticized his “one-day cameo” in the house, stating that people did not elect him just to bicker over microphone access.
