Chief Minister Revanth Reddy asserted that he would remain in power for the next ten and a half years, dismissing any threats to his leadership. His calculation is rooted in the belief that the next assembly elections will not occur in 2028 as scheduled but will be pushed to 2029 to align with the nationwide “One Nation, One Election” (Jamili) initiative. He analyzed that by the time the national census, delimitation of constituencies, and the implementation of women’s reservations are completed, his current term would naturally extend, followed by a subsequent five-year term where he expects a thumping majority for the Congress party.
Beyond electoral predictions, the Chief Minister set firm deadlines for infrastructure projects to signal his commitment to development. He announced that the Telangana government would complete the takeover of the Hyderabad Metro by March 31. Furthermore, he scheduled the foundation stone laying ceremonies for the Adilabad and Warangal airports for June 2, coinciding with Telangana Formation Day. He emphasized that his governance would focus on North Telangana’s growth while maintaining a strategic balance between state interests and cooperation with the central government.
Regarding the ongoing legal and political controversies, Revanth Reddy maintained that his government would act strictly according to the law. Addressing the phone-tapping case, he noted that the investigation is progressing based on information from former intelligence official Prabhakar Rao. He took a sharp dig at BRS leader KCR, describing him as being in “self-imposed house arrest.” On the inter-state front, he urged Andhra Pradesh not to stall Telangana’s irrigation projects, advocating for a uniform policy on river water sharing that respects the rightful water shares of both states.
