The confrontation follows a series of controversies involving Rao since his election in 2024. The leadership specifically highlighted his friction with senior party figures, including MP Kesineni Chinni, and criticized the behavior of his supporters on digital platforms. Palla Srinivas reminded the MLA that “no individual is bigger than the party,” emphasizing that his personal political identity is entirely dependent on the TDP banner. This meeting serves as a culmination of several past warnings, including a previous appearance before the party’s disciplinary committee.
The MLA’s track record has been marred by serious allegations, including a distressing incident in January 2023 where a woman attempted suicide following a dispute in Gopalapuram village. Allegations surfaced that the MLA had abused and attacked the woman, a supporter of the opposition YSRCP, during a family mediation. Despite prior summons by Chandrababu Naidu to mend his ways, Rao’s persistent involvement in local conflicts and administrative interference led the party to conclude that a clear, documented warning was necessary to maintain organizational decorum.
In response to the stern dressing-down, Kolikapudi Srinivasa Rao reportedly attributed his lapses to “inexperience.” He offered an assurance to the state president that he would transform his behavior and actively seek guidance from senior party veterans moving forward. While the MLA has expressed a desire to change, party sources indicate that he remains under close observation, with the leadership ready to take drastic measures should any further instances of indiscipline come to light.
