BRS Working President KTR expressed satisfaction with the party’s performance in the 2026 Telangana Municipal Elections during a press conference at Telangana Bhavan. He asserted that the results prove BRS remains the primary alternative to the ruling Congress party. KTR criticized the Congress for what he termed a “forced victory,” alleging that they misused official power and the police machinery. He claimed that despite the distribution of money and liquor by the ruling party, they failed to win the hearts of the people, labeling their win as “artificial.”
Analyzing the numbers, KTR highlighted that out of 2,582 municipal wards, BRS secured approximately 759 wards (roughly 30%), while maintaining a solid 40% vote bank across the state. He emphasized that the party’s grassroots strength remains unshaken. On the national and state level, he positioned BRS as the sole force capable of resisting the BJP and Congress. Notably, he announced unconditional support to the CPI in the Kothagudem Corporation to prevent the BJP from gaining ground, specifically to protect Singareni from privatization.
Looking ahead, KTR announced that BRS would use these results as a stepping stone for the upcoming GHMC, MPTC, and ZPTC elections. He warned that in municipalities where a “hung” status exists (over 30 such bodies), the party would vigilantly resist any poaching attempts by the ruling government. Thanking the party cadre and social media warriors who “fought like soldiers” in adverse conditions, he vowed to continue the struggle on behalf of the people with renewed vigor.
