Tragedy in Mumbai: Under-Construction Metro Pillar Segment Collapses in Mulund; One Dead, Four Injured

The Incident at LBS Road

The accident occurred on Sunday afternoon, February 14, 2026, around 12:20 PM near the Johnson & Johnson company on LBS Road in the Mulund West area. A significant portion of a metro pillar currently under construction gave way and crashed onto a passing auto-rickshaw and a car. The sudden collapse trapped several people under the debris and caused immediate chaos on one of the city’s busiest arterial roads.

Casualties and Identification

Authorities have confirmed the death of one individual, identified as Ramdhan Yadav. Four others sustained serious injuries in the crash. Among the injured are Raj Kumar Yadav, Mahendra Yadav, and Deepa Ruhia. According to hospital sources, Raj Kumar Yadav is in critical condition and is currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), while the other two are reported to be in stable condition.

Rescue Operations and Public Outcry

Emergency services, including the Mumbai Fire Brigade, police teams, and 108 ambulance services, arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the alert. Metro officials and ward officers also joined the rescue efforts to clear the wreckage and restore traffic flow on LBS Road. Local residents expressed anger over the incident, alleging a lapse in safety protocols. They pointed out that the construction area lacked proper barricading, which might have prevented vehicles from traveling directly under the vulnerable structure.
