Rowdy Sheeter’s Funeral Procession Sparks Tensions in Vijayawada

The city of Vijayawada witnessed significant unrest as followers of a deceased rowdy sheeter, Pandu (alias Pavuram), held a massive funeral procession that caused a local stir. Pandu, a notorious figure from the Krishna Lanka area, recently died in a road accident while driving an auto-rickshaw within the Suryapet police station limits. In response to his death, hundreds of associates gathered for a large-scale rally, moving from the Vijayawada Government Hospital toward the Bhavanipuram area, creating an atmosphere of fear among local residents.

Police officials suspect that the procession included members of various notorious local gangs, including the “Ganja batch” and “Blade batch.” Investigations indicate that key rowdy sheeters and their followers from areas like Singh Nagar, Patel Nagar, and Jakkampudi participated in the event. The rally featured a heavy presence of two-wheelers and high-decibel sound systems, leading to traffic disruptions and public concern. Videos of the followers’ “hulchul” (ruckus) quickly went viral on social media, prompting immediate law enforcement action.

Taking a serious view of the disturbance, the Vijayawada police have launched an investigation and registered cases against several individuals, including Naveen Sai and Surya Kodi. Authorities have already seized a DJ vehicle and approximately 20 motorcycles used during the unauthorized rally. Police have warned that anyone disrupting law and order will face strict consequences, and they are currently using CCTV footage to identify and arrest other participants involved in the unruly demonstration.
