Cherlapally Tragedy: Police Reveal Mental Stress and Isolation Led to Triple Suicide

Following a thorough probe, the police concluded that severe mental stress and a deep sense of isolation were the primary catalysts behind Vijayashanthi Reddy’s decision. While her husband lived in Dubai for employment, her two children were staying in hostels for their education. Working night shifts at an IT company, Vijayashanthi found herself trapped in a cycle of solitude, which gradually deteriorated her mental well-being. The lack of an immediate support system while managing a demanding job exacerbated her depression.

The investigation revealed that her prolonged loneliness led to a distorted thinking pattern regarding her children’s future. Police discovered that she was consumed by the fear that if something happened to her, her children would become helpless orphans with no one to care for them. This overwhelming anxiety for their future, rather than any external financial or family disputes, prompted her to take her children with her in a fatal leap under a train near Cherlapally.

This case has highlighted the silent crisis of mental health challenges faced by professional women living away from their families. Authorities have emphasized the importance of mental health awareness and the need for IT companies to provide better emotional support for employees working solitary night shifts. The police have officially closed the mystery, categorizing it as a suicide driven by chronic psychological distress and separation anxiety.
