Revanth Reddy Recalls Congress’s Tough Journey: “Hard Work and Merit Rule the Party Now”

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy shared a nostalgic yet firm message during a special training program for DCC (District Congress Committee) Presidents from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana at Ananthagiri, Vikarabad. He recalled that when he first took over as the TPCC President, the party was in an extremely critical and difficult position. Despite facing initial internal opposition from within the ranks, he emphasized that he chose the path of dialogue, meeting every leader individually to convince them of his vision. He credited the collective effort of all leaders and workers for the successful resurgence of the Congress party in Telangana.

Highlighting the democratic nature of the Congress, the Chief Minister stated that the party has always respected the freedom to express dissenting opinions. He clarified that unlike other political cultures, Congress does not believe in harassing those who voice different views. However, he warned that internal infighting only hurts the millions of dedicated grassroots workers who sacrifice for the party. Revanth Reddy pointed out that the current administration is rewarding loyalty and performance, noting that several DCC presidents were given MLA tickets, while others were accommodated as MLCs or Corporation Chairmen based on their merit and hard work.

In a motivational closing to the session, the Chief Minister urged DCC presidents to value their positions and stay connected with the people. Drawing inspiration from past leaders, he cited Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s historic padayatra and Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra as examples of leaders being amongst the masses. He also paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Nehru-Gandhi family, from Motilal Nehru’s financial contributions to the ultimate sacrifices of Indira and Rajiv Gandhi. He concluded by assuring that under his leadership, constant monitoring of performance will continue, and those who toil for the party will surely be rewarded with higher opportunities.
