Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan launched a scathing attack on the previous YSRCP government in the state assembly regarding the Tirumala Laddu prasadam controversy. He accused the former rulers of “innovating in anarchy” by using synthetic chemicals and palm oil instead of pure cow ghee to prepare the sacred offering. Citing SIT investigation reports, he revealed that nearly 20 crore laddus were made with “fake ghee” that contained no actual milk fat, describing it as a pre-planned conspiracy to desecrate the faith of millions of devotees.
Kalyan emphasized that the responsibility for this “grave sin” lies directly with the previous TTD board and the influential leaders who appointed them. He highlighted that 68 lakh kilograms of adulterated ghee were used during the 2019-2024 period, and even the laddus sent for the Ayodhya Ram Mandir inauguration were affected. The Deputy CM warned that those who plunder the wealth and sanctity of God would face divine consequences, stating that their “entire generations would perish” due to the gravity of this betrayal.
Invoking ancient wisdom, the actor-politician quoted a poem from Sri Krishna Devaraya’s Amuktamalyada, which warns kings against appointing greedy individuals to temple boards. He argued that the previous government manipulated tender rules—such as reducing turnover requirements and experience criteria—to favor specific dairies that supplied the substandard ingredients. Reiterating his commitment to justice, Kalyan called for the establishment of a ‘Sanatana Dharma Rakshana Board’ to prevent such incidents in the future and ensured that all 36 accused identified by the SIT would face strict legal action.
