BJP MP Etela Rajender has launched a scathing attack on the Telangana Congress government, accusing it of being heartless toward the poor. Speaking to the media, Rajender condemned the demolition of hundreds of houses across the state, from Khammam to Hyderabad, under the pretext of the Musi River Revitalisation project. He highlighted the plight of residents in areas like Madhu Park apartments, questioning how the government could snatch away the only shelter of the underprivileged while failing to provide a single new house even after two and a half years in power.
The MP found it paradoxical that the state claims a lack of funds for essential services like fee reimbursement, Aarogyasri arrears, and student diet charges, yet plans to spend thousands of crores on constructing a Gandhi Park. He accused the administration of showing high-handedness toward common citizens while ignoring massive land encroachments by influential people. Specifically, he pointed out that 120 acres of land in Kukatpally’s Ellammabanda had been illegally occupied, yet no action was taken by the authorities.
Rajender demanded that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi intervene and put an end to what he described as “atrocities” against the poor in Telangana. He suggested that if the government wishes to build a Gandhi Park, it should utilize the land provided by the Union Defence Ministry rather than displacing families. Warning of a large-scale protest, he stated that the people would teach the Congress party a lesson in the upcoming elections if immediate alternatives and justice are not provided to the displaced families.
