Sanju Samson Touched by Chepauk’s Warmth: “Added Responsibility to Entertain Fans,” Says New CSK Star

A Grand Homecoming in Chennai:

India wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson expressed his deep gratitude for the overwhelming love he received at the MA Chidambaram Stadium during the T20 World Cup clash against Zimbabwe. Having recently been traded to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the upcoming IPL season, Samson noted that the “special love” was palpable from the moment he landed at the airport. He highlighted the strong cultural bond between his home state, Kerala, and Chennai, stating he felt a unique energy being part of such a passionate fan base.

The Weight of Fan Support:

Reflecting on the roaring cheers from the stands, the 29-year-old shared that such immense support brings a sense of accountability. Samson remarked that while he is happy to play in front of the Chennai crowd, it adds an “extra responsibility” to go out and truly entertain them. In a gesture that touched local fans, he even spoke in Tamil, promising, “Yes, we’ll meet soon,” signaling his excitement for the upcoming IPL season at his new home ground.

Aggressive Cameo Against Zimbabwe:

On the field, Samson backed his words with an aggressive intent during the powerplay. Opening the innings for India, he smashed a brisk 24 runs off just 15 deliveries, including a massive straight six and a nonchalant pull for another maximum. His attacking approach propelled India to a rapid 46 runs in just three overs. Although his promising knock ended when he mistimed a slower ball to deep mid-wicket, his performance left the Chepauk crowd thoroughly entertained.
