The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has officially addressed and dismissed viral social media rumors claiming a shortage of ghee at the hill shrine. TTD clarified that there is absolutely no disruption in the performance of Srivari Kainkaryams (rituals) or the preparation of the world-famous Laddu Prasadam. The temple administration urged devotees not to believe in such misinformation, asserting that they maintain a robust supply chain to ensure the continuity of temple traditions and offerings.
Providing technical clarity, TTD explained that their ghee procurement follows a stringent three-tier system. Instead of relying on a single supplier, the board procures high-quality ghee from three different organizations to mitigate any potential supply risks. Currently, TTD has a buffer stock of approximately 7 lakh Laddus ready for distribution. In anticipation of the heavy pilgrim rush during the summer holidays, the administration has already made advanced arrangements to meet the increased demand for the sacred Prasadam.
In a separate but related incident, a ghee tanker traveling from Pune to Tirumala met with an accident near Kondapuram in YSR Kadapa district. The tanker, carrying 21,000 liters of ghee, overturned at the Chitravathi bridge, causing nearly the entire stock to leak onto the road. Local residents reportedly rushed to the spot with buckets and pots, leaving only about 500 liters by the time police arrived. While some social media users attempted to link this accident to the alleged ghee shortage at the temple, TTD reiterated that their internal reserves remain unaffected and sufficient for all temple requirements.
