A major security breach at the historic Srisailam Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple has triggered a massive controversy after a video of the inner sanctum (Garbhalayam) surfaced on social media. Despite a strict ban on mobile phones inside the temple premises, a devotee managed to carry a device into the core shrine and record the sacred rituals being performed on the Shiva Lingam. The footage, which has since gone viral, shows the individual filming the deity while security personnel in the vicinity appeared to remain oblivious or failed to intervene, leading to widespread criticism of the temple administration.
The incident has drawn sharp reactions from the devotee community and political circles in Andhra Pradesh, raising serious questions about the effectiveness of the temple’s security protocols. Lord Mallanna’s followers have expressed deep anger, questioning how a mobile phone could pass through multiple security tiers and frisking points.
