Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka presented the Telangana Annual Budget for the 2026-27 financial year in the State Assembly, featuring a total outlay of ₹3,24,234 crore. This marks a significant increase of approximately ₹20,000 crore compared to the previous year’s budget of ₹3.04 lakh crore. The budget allocates ₹2,34,406 crore for revenue expenditure and ₹47,267 crore for capital expenditure, reflecting the government’s dual focus on immediate welfare and long-term infrastructure development.
A massive portion of the budget—₹50,713 crore—has been dedicated specifically to the implementation of the Congress government’s “Six Guarantees.” Major allocations within this segment include ₹18,000 crore for the Rythu Bharosa investment support scheme, ₹14,861 crore for the Cheyutha pension scheme, and ₹5,500 crore for the Indiramma Indlu housing project. Additionally, the government has earmarked ₹14,000 crore for electricity subsidies and ₹3,500 crore for bonuses on agricultural produce, emphasizing its commitment to supporting both the rural economy and urban households.
Beyond the primary welfare guarantees, the budget provides substantial funding for core sectors to drive holistic state growth. The Education sector received the highest departmental allocation at ₹26,674 crore, followed by Panchayat Raj at ₹33,688 crore and Agriculture at ₹23,179 crore. Notable specific allocations include ₹1,000 crore for Osmania University, ₹400 crore for Chakali Ailamma University, and ₹1,500 crore for the Musi Riverfront Development project. Minister Bhatti Vikramarka stated that the budget aims to achieve social and economic justice for every citizen while positioning Telangana as a national leader in governance.
