During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Hyderabad, he visited the residence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. A spiritual highlight of the visit occurred when the Prime Minister offered prayers to the idols of Lord Rama and Goddess Seetha in the family’s prayer room. The encounter shed light on a deep-rooted family legacy and the cultural significance of the sacred statues.
Chief Minister Naidu revealed a sentimental history behind the idols, explaining that they were gifted to him decades ago by his father-in-law, the late legendary actor and former CM, N.T. Rama Rao (NTR). For the family, these idols are more than just religious symbols; they are a cherished memory of NTR, who was famously known for his iconic portrayals of mythological characters. Chandrababu Naidu noted that the family has preserved and worshiped them with great devotion for years.
A key technical and spiritual detail of the idols is that they are crafted from Panchaloha. This traditional five-metal alloy—typically composed of gold, silver, copper, zinc, and iron—is highly revered in Hindu culture for its purity and vibrational energy. Prime Minister Modi showed great interest in this detail, acknowledging the historical and craftsmanship value of the statues. The moment highlighted a personal and cultural bond between the leaders, rooted in shared heritage and respect for tradition.
