The Government of India has officially refuted social media rumors regarding the evacuation of Indian citizens from the UAE and fake videos concerning Rafale fighter jets. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) clarified that there are no plans or agreements with the UAE to move Indian workers through Fujairah Port, as suggested by some news reports. The government has labeled these reports as “baseless” and issued a ‘Fake News Alert’ to prevent public confusion.
In a separate instance of digital misinformation, the MEA flagged a Deepfake video featuring spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal. This AI-generated video falsely showed the official admitting that India had lost its Rafale jets and making controversial comments about water flows to Pakistan. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit confirmed the video was digitally manipulated and likely originated from propaganda accounts based in neighboring countries to create unrest.
The government has urged citizens to be extremely cautious and not share unverified information on social media. Officials emphasized that for any authentic news regarding foreign policy or national security, the public should rely solely on official government websites and verified social media handles. They highlighted that such “information attacks” are deliberate attempts to mislead the public and damage India’s international standing.
