Amidst the political storm surrounding “Sanatana Dharma,” Tamil Nadu Minister and TVK leader Aadhav Arjuna has issued a definitive clarification regarding the party’s ideological foundation. Addressing the controversial remarks made by Opposition Leader Udhayanidhi Stalin, Arjuna stated that while TVK is deeply committed to the Indian Constitution and respects all faiths—Hinduism, Christianity, and Islam—it stands firmly against Hindutva, which he defined as the forced imposition of religious beliefs. He emphasized that the term “Sanatana Dharma” is often misinterpreted, noting that in Tamil Nadu, it is viewed as a symbol of social inequality rather than a mere religious identifier.
Minister Arjuna further explained that the TVK government, led by Chief Minister Vijay, is built on the principle of treating every citizen as an equal, regardless of caste or creed. He highlighted that despite personal beliefs, it is the duty of all elected officials to respect every religion and reject any form of social hierarchy. He urged the Opposition to provide clarity on their statements while reaffirming that TVK’s primary battle is against systemic discrimination and inequality, ensuring that the state remains a haven for secular values.
Beyond ideological debates, the Minister provided updates on the TVK government’s administrative progress, focusing on public safety and welfare. He mentioned the Chief Minister’s recent order to shut down over 700 Tasmac liquor shops to improve women’s safety and the implementation of a zero-tolerance policy against drugs. Promising a corruption-free administration, Arjuna noted that MLAs have been directed to conduct rigorous review meetings across various departments. “Our leader has pledged not to touch a single paisa of public money,” Arjuna asserted, inviting citizens to evaluate the government’s performance after its first three months.
