The weather in Telangana has taken a sudden turn as the Meteorological Centre in Hyderabad issued an alert predicting thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across several districts. Dark rain clouds have already gathered over many parts of the state, accompanied by strong winds and scattered showers. This sudden shift in weather conditions comes as a major relief for residents who have been battling intense heat and suffocating humidity over the past few days.
According to the weather department’s forecast, heavy rainfall is expected to lash several districts over the next few hours, including Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Kamareddy, Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri, Nalgonda, Jangaon, and Suryapet. On the outskirts of Hyderabad, areas like Narapally, Rampally, Ghatkesar, Boduppal, Peerzadiguda, Hayathnagar, and Nagole have already witnessed initial spells of rain. Authorities expect these showers to spread across the entire capital city as the night progresses.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) noted that despite temperatures hovering around 35°C on Saturday afternoon, high humidity levels triggered favorable conditions for these convection-driven downpours. While the cooling rain brings much-needed respite, weather experts have explicitly warned of potential lightning strikes and urged the public, especially those in transit, to stay alert and seek proper shelter.
