Telangana Forms Four Working Groups to Strengthen Hyderabad Transport System

The Telangana government has constituted four specialised working groups under the Hyderabad Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (HUMTA) to develop a unified, real-time, data-driven transport management system for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Area. The initiative aims to improve inter-agency coordination, integrated urban mobility planning, efficient implementation of transport projects, and the adoption of advanced technologies for better traffic management.

The first working group will focus on policy formulation and smart mobility solutions under the chairmanship of the Special Chief Secretary of the Municipal Administration Department, with representatives from key government departments and transport agencies. The second group will concentrate on road improvements and the review of traffic and transportation proposals, while the third group will oversee enforcement and regulatory matters under the leadership of the GHMC Commissioner.

The fourth working group will be responsible for developing and implementing an Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) and will be headed by the Hyderabad Commissioner of Police. The government said the panels will meet regularly, coordinate with various stakeholders, and submit recommendations to the HUMTA Board to strengthen urban mobility and ensure seamless integration of smart transport technologies across Hyderabad.
