Lokesh Invites Hyundai Mobis to Invest in Andhra Pradesh’s EV Sector

Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh, who is on a visit to South Korea to attract investments, met senior representatives of Hyundai Mobis and invited the company to establish an electric vehicle (EV) semiconductor hub in the state. He also proposed setting up a Hyundai Mobis Research and Development (R&D) and Engineering Centre in Visakhapatnam, along with a manufacturing facility for EV components and battery systems in the Tirupati and Anantapur regions.

Lokesh also suggested establishing a Centre of Excellence in collaboration with IIT Tirupati to promote research and innovation in advanced automotive technologies. He sought Hyundai Mobis’ partnership in areas such as autonomous driving, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and smart manufacturing, while urging the company to support the development of Anantapur as a major automobile manufacturing hub.

The minister assured Hyundai Mobis of the Andhra Pradesh government’s full support for its expansion plans in the state. In response, company representatives said Hyundai Mobis intends to manufacture key modules for Hyundai and Kia at its Anantapur unit and would consider the Andhra Pradesh government’s proposals at the highest level before taking a final decision.
