Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Friday accused the Telangana government of protecting the Barrister Fatima Owaisi Educational Campus, alleging that it was constructed on land belonging to Salkam Cheruvu in Hyderabad. He claimed the Congress government was selectively targeting the homes of poor people through HYDRAA while ignoring alleged encroachments linked to leaders of its ally, the AIMIM.
In a post on social media, Bandi Sanjay criticised the government’s stand before the Telangana High Court, where it stated that a joint survey had found the educational campus to be outside the notified Full Tank Level (FTL) of Salkam Cheruvu. He alleged that the government was misleading the public and the courts, and sarcastically remarked that Congress leaders needed an eye check-up if they could not see what he claimed was an obvious encroachment.
The controversy intensified after Telangana Rakshana Sena leader K. Kavitha also accused the state government of protecting the institution while taking action against the poor in the name of HYDRAA. Meanwhile, AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi defended the educational institutions and said he would continue establishing schools and colleges for underprivileged students. He asserted that even if one institution was demolished, he would build several more and continue providing education to children.
