The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has urged the Election Commission to extend the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh by one month, alleging irregularities and delays in the enumeration process. The party claimed that glitches in the revision exercise could prevent eligible voters from being included in the electoral rolls and called for additional time to complete the process fairly.
YSRCP MLC Lella Appi Reddy alleged that leaders of the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) were pressuring Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to upload voter data to the MyTDP application before submitting it to the Election Commission. He claimed that ministers, elected representatives, and party functionaries were interfering in the revision process and alleged that officials faced pressure even when attempting to report such incidents to the police. The party said it had already submitted a complaint to the Election Commission and would explore legal options if necessary.
The opposition leader further alleged that irregularities had surfaced in several constituencies, including Atmakur and Tamballapalle, and questioned the official progress figures released by the authorities. He urged the Election Commission to use its discretionary powers to investigate the complaints, remove duplicate entries, and ensure that every eligible voter gets an opportunity to exercise their franchise. He also claimed that thousands of duplicate voter entries existed in Kuppam constituency, though the allegation has not been independently verified.
