Supreme Court proceedings were briefly disrupted on Friday after a litigant appearing in person allegedly abused judges, threw case papers in open court, and was forcibly removed by security personnel. The incident occurred before a Bench comprising Justices K.V. Viswanathan and Alok Aradhe during the hearing of a petition challenging an order of the Allahabad High Court.
At the beginning of the hearing, the petitioner demanded the registration of an FIR against a Lucknow Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) and a private company. When the Bench questioned his manner of addressing the court after he claimed to be “ordering” the judges, the litigant allegedly threw documents into the air and made abusive and offensive remarks, including comments directed at the Chief Justice of India. Security personnel then intervened and escorted him out of the courtroom, after which normal proceedings resumed.
The incident follows another courtroom disruption earlier this year involving advocate Rakesh Kishore, who allegedly attempted to throw an object towards a Supreme Court Bench. In that case, the Attorney General later approved criminal contempt proceedings, stating that the advocate’s conduct undermined the dignity and authority of the apex court. The latest episode has once again raised concerns about maintaining decorum and respect during judicial proceedings.
