Concerns over the NDA government’s E20 fuel initiative, which consists of 20% ethanol and 80% petrol, appear to be growing among the public. According to a recent C-Voter survey, more than half of the respondents are not willing to use E20 petrol. The nationwide survey, conducted on June 8 and 9 among 1,641 adults, found that 52% opposed the use of E20 fuel, while only 22% supported it. Another 25.9% of respondents did not express a clear opinion.
The survey also revealed that 53% of respondents who voted for the BJP-led NDA were not interested in using E20 petrol. Around 55% believed that the fuel could potentially damage vehicles, while 52.8% expressed concerns that it might negatively affect engine performance.
At the same time, 76% of those surveyed said that both regular petrol and E20 should be made available so that consumers can choose the fuel best suited to their vehicles. Many respondents also felt that if E20 is promoted as an alternative fuel, its price should be lower than that of regular petrol.
