The controversy involving choreographers Jani Master and Sekhar Master has taken a new turn, with allegations over the functioning of the Dancers’ Association drawing widespread attention. Amid claims that dancers from Mumbai were being hired instead of local talent, Association President and Jani Master’s wife, Sumalatha, alleged that some dance masters were involved in financial irregularities by failing to pay dancers.
Responding to the criticism, Sumalatha questioned why the entire association should face elections if only a few members had resigned. She maintained that the current committee had worked for the welfare of dancers and alleged that they were being targeted for questioning the wrongdoing of certain individuals within the association.
As the issue intensified, the Film Federation also stepped into the matter. Reacting to the Federation’s involvement, Jani Master and Sumalatha stated that the Federation cannot impose rules on independent associations. They further alleged that the Federation was supporting “insiders” within the Dancers’ Association and attempting to force decisions on the organization, adding another layer to the ongoing dispute.
