72nd National Film Awards: Yami Gautam, Kartik Aaryan and Mammootty Shine Big

The 72nd National Film Awards celebrated outstanding performances across Indian cinema, with several actors and filmmakers receiving prestigious honours. Actress Yami Gautam won the Best Actress award for her powerful performance in Article 370, earning nationwide recognition for her role in the critically acclaimed film.

In the Best Actor category, the award was shared by two celebrated performers. Kartik Aaryan received the honour for his impressive performance in Chandu Champion, while Malayalam superstar Mammootty was recognised for his exceptional acting in Bramayugam. Both actors will jointly receive the prestigious award.

Tamil filmmaker Rajkumar Periasamy won the Best Director award for Amaran, based on the life of Major Mukund Varadarajan. Meanwhile, the Telugu film 35 Chinna Katha Kaadu was selected as the Best Children’s Film, highlighting the strong presence of South Indian cinema alongside Bollywood at this year’s National Film Awards.
