Aakash Chopra Questions Kuldeep Yadav’s Exclusion Ahead of Decisive ODI

All eyes are on the third and deciding ODI between India and England at Lord’s on Sunday, with fans eager to see how captain Rohit Sharma performs in the crucial encounter. However, the continued exclusion of star spinner Kuldeep Yadav from the playing XI has sparked widespread debate. Instead of picking Kuldeep, the Indian team management has opted for two finger spinners who can contribute with the bat, while Ishan Kishan replaced KL Rahul as the only change in the second ODI.

Former India cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra strongly criticised the team management’s decision, questioning why Kuldeep continues to be overlooked despite his proven wicket-taking ability. He said the left-arm wrist spinner has repeatedly been treated unfairly and has faced similar situations across all formats.

Chopra further argued that whenever the team management changes its strategy, looks to strengthen the batting line-up, or reshuffles the playing XI after poor performances, Kuldeep Yadav is often the first player to be dropped. He expressed disappointment over the spinner’s continued absence, saying he deserves a fair and consistent opportunity in the national side.
