Telangana has earned national recognition for its outstanding performance in maternal and child healthcare. Appreciating the remarkable work of the State Health Department, the Central Government has sanctioned an additional ₹200 crore as an incentive. Health and Family Welfare Commissioner Dr. Sangeeta Satyanarayana announced the details in a statement on Monday.
She stated that the additional funds received from the Centre will be fully utilized to strengthen maternal and child healthcare services in government hospitals across the state and to expand medical infrastructure. The initiative aims to improve the quality of care provided to mothers and newborns.
As part of the plan, neonatal care units will be expanded in selected government hospitals statewide. Labour rooms and operation theatres will be upgraded to meet national quality standards. In addition, Midwifery-Led Care Units, Kangaroo Mother Care wards, and Lactation Management Units will be established on a larger scale. Special monitoring systems equipped with advanced medical equipment will also be introduced in high-delivery area hospitals to continuously monitor the health of mothers and unborn babies.
