South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia are set to jointly host the 2027 ODI World Cup. Although the tournament is still some time away, discussions regarding India’s possible squad selection have already begun in cricket circles. In this context, former Indian cricketer Abhinav Mukund announced his preferred 15-member India squad for the 2027 World Cup.
Notably, Mukund did not include senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja or star pacer Mohammed Shami in his selection. He also left out young talents such as Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, Abhishek Sharma, and Varun Chakravarthy. Yashasvi Jaiswal was considered only as a backup opener rather than a regular member of the main playing squad.
Mukund entrusted the top-order responsibilities to Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shubman Gill. Shreyas Iyer was included in the middle order, while KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan were chosen as wicketkeeping options. In the all-rounders’ category, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar were selected, with Kuldeep Yadav named as the lone specialist spinner in the squad.
