Ethanol May Soon Be Introduced as Cooking Fuel in India

The Central Government is continuously taking major steps to promote the use of environmentally friendly fuel sources in India. As part of this effort, preparations are underway to introduce ethanol as an alternative cooking fuel to the LPG cylinders currently used in households.

India has already launched E20 petrol by blending ethanol with petrol across the country. This move was aimed at reducing dependence on fossil fuels and promoting cleaner energy sources. With ethanol production increasing significantly in India, the government is now exploring new avenues for its utilization.

Officials are considering the possibility of using ethanol as a cooking gas fuel in homes, which could provide a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to conventional LPG. If implemented, this initiative could help reduce carbon emissions, strengthen energy security, and support India’s transition toward greener fuel solutions.
