BRS leader and former MLA Rega Kantha Rao has been accused by a woman of allegedly sexually exploiting and cheating her after promising to marry her. The woman approached the XIV Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Nampally, following which police registered a case and began an investigation. According to her complaint, she works in the media sector and first met Rega Kantha Rao in 2022 for an interview. Their acquaintance reportedly grew closer after discussions about launching a new YouTube channel, eventually developing into a relationship based on an alleged promise of marriage.
The woman alleged that she lived with him for some time in an apartment in Ameerpet and accused him of taking personal photographs without her consent and subsequently threatening her. She further alleged that he took Rs 4 lakh from her in the name of a real estate investment and later avoided her. She claimed that when she pressed him over the issue, Rs 8.5 lakh was transferred to her in installments through his associates. However, she maintained that her complaint was not merely about money, but about allegedly being deceived for four years in the name of marriage and sexually exploited.
The woman also claimed that she had previously approached the SHE Teams through an online complaint, but alleged that Rega Kantha Rao made counter-allegations against her. She has sought protection for herself and her family, claiming that they face a threat to their lives from his associates. Based on her complaint received on July 26, 2026, police registered FIR No. 589/2026 under Sections 69 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and assigned the investigation to SI P. Narasinga Rao. The allegations have not been established, and the facts of the case will be determined through the ongoing police investigation.
