With local body elections on the horizon, the Telangana State Election Commission (SEC) has finalised the seat distribution for MPTCs and ZPTCs.
Accordingly, the number of Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) seats has been reduced from 5,817 to 5,773, resulting in a drop of 44 seats compared to the 2019 elections. Similarly, the Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) seats have been fixed at 566.
A total of 31 Zilla Parishads and 566 Mandal Parishads will go for polls shortly. Nalgonda district has the highest number of MPTC (353 MPTC) seats, while Mulugu has the lowest at 83.
State Election Commissioner Rani Kumudini instructed the Panchayat Raj department to keep all logistics and equipment ready, as elections are expected to be held in August.
