The Nampally Court has handed over Ravi, the key accused linked to the notorious piracy website ‘I-Bomma’, to the police for five days of custody. The Hyderabad Central Crime Station (CCS) Police, who recently arrested Ravi, requested custody to extract more in-depth details regarding the case, which involves illegally uploading new movies to the website. The police believe this custody is crucial to dismantling the entire network behind the piracy operation, which has been a major headache for the film industry.
Police investigation revealed that Ravi played a critical role, using specialised software to illegally hack and upload newly released films to his website. Through these activities, Ravi accumulated immense illegal wealth. Focusing on his illicit earnings, the police have already frozen Rs 3 crore in his bank account. Authorities are now conducting a deep investigation into how such large-scale illegal transactions were conducted and are exploring possible international links behind this extensive piracy network.
The investigation further revealed that Ravi’s illegal earnings were not limited to piracy; he also reportedly amassed crores through betting apps. During the five-day custody period, CCS Police are focusing on obtaining vital information, including details of his betting activities, the routing of his piracy income, where the money was invested, and the identities of other individuals in his network. This investigation is expected to be a significant blow to the piracy industry plaguing the Telugu film market.
