A tragic incident occurred during the Dubai Air Show on Friday when an Indian Air Force (IAF) Tejas fighter jet crashed while performing an aerial display. The pilot, Wing Commander Naman Syal, sustained fatal injuries in the accident and was confirmed deceased. Wg Cdr Syal was a resident of the Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh. The IAF has expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, standing firmly with them during this difficult time.

The accident prompted immediate and widespread grief across India. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed profound sadness, stating that the nation had lost a “courageous, dutiful, and valiant pilot.” Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), the manufacturer of the Tejas aircraft, also issued a statement expressing its deep sorrow over the loss of the pilot. The IAF has ordered a Court of Inquiry to thoroughly ascertain the precise cause of the accident.
