The Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE), the special anti-drugs force of the Telangana Police, conducted its biggest operation outside the state, arresting more than 50 overstaying Nigerians who were part of a massive drug cartel. The joint operations spanned multiple cities, including Delhi, Greater Noida, Gwalior, and Visakhapatnam.
Multi-City Joint Operation
The operation was executed through a major collaboration between 124 officers from the EAGLE Force and 100 officers from the Delhi Crime Branch.
-
Delhi Raids: EAGLE Director Sandeep Shandilya reported that 20 locations across areas like Mehrauli, Sant Garh, and Munirka in Delhi were raided, leading to the arrest of over 50 Nigerians and a massive drug haul.
-
Other Locations: In Noida, Gwalior, and Visakhapatnam, local police leadership cooperated with the Telangana EAGLE Force. The arrests included a drug kingpin, “drug sale girls who were also working as sex workers,” and main “Mule account holders.”
-
Scale of Deployment: The EAGLE force deployed a significant number of personnel, including one SP, eight DSPs, 17 Inspectors, 16 Sub-Inspectors, and 82 Head Constables/Constables for the operation.
About the EAGLE Force
The EAGLE specialized task force was launched by the Telangana state government in June 2025 on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The force, inaugurated by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, operates with the mission to identify, prevent, and eliminate all forms of drug-related activities across the state. While it has conducted several anti-drug operations in Hyderabad—including busting a drug racket in Mahindra University in August—this multi-city operation marks its most expansive effort to date.
