GoIStats Mobile App Crosses 14,000 Downloads, Providing On-The-Go Access to Official Data

The GoIStats mobile application, launched by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoS&PI), has successfully surpassed 14,000 downloads, according to a statement given by MoS Rao Inderjit Singh in the Rajya Sabha. The app serves as a vital tool for providing users with on-the-go access to official statistical datasets and offers a quick snapshot of complex economic data, complementing traditional data access channels.

Key Data and Features

The Android version of the GoIStats app currently provides data from eight key statistical products, covering eleven socio-economic indicators. These include critical metrics such as National Accounts Statistics (GDP), the Consumer Price Index (CPI), the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), and the Periodic Labour Force Survey. The app, which directly connects users to the National Statistical Office (NSO) database, features an interactive “key trends” dashboard with dynamic visualizations and allows for one-click CSV downloads.

Focus on Methodology and Global Indices

MoS Singh also highlighted the continuous efforts to improve the statistical methodology, noting that the base year of various indices is revised periodically to incorporate international guidelines and capture structural economic changes. Furthermore, the government has undertaken the Global Indices for Reforms and Growth (GIRG) initiative. This program uses inter-ministerial coordination to monitor the progress of 26 select global indices, driving reforms and promoting economic growth across the country.
