In a striking display of patriotism, AIMIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi celebrated the 77th Republic Day by riding through the historic lanes of the Old City on his Triumph motorcycle. Adorned with twin national flags, Owaisi’s ride followed the official flag-hoisting ceremonies at the Majlis party headquarters and Madina Chaurasta. The MP shared a 75-second video of his journey on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), set to the stirring patriotic track “Ye Desh Mere” from the film Bhuj: The Pride of India, which commemorates India’s victory in the 1971 war.
During his tour, Owaisi interacted with locals and participated in various community celebrations across the Old City. In his message to the nation, he emphasized that India’s founding fathers envisioned a Republic built on the pillars of liberty, equality, fraternity, and justice. He remarked that the country was never meant to be a land of majoritarianism or dictatorship, but a place where every voice—no matter how small—holds significance. He prayed for an India where these constitutional values transition from mere promises to lived realities for every citizen.
The video, which quickly went viral, showcased a different side of the political leader, blending his passion for motorcycling with a strong nationalistic message. Owaisi’s choice of the song “Ye Desh Mere” was seen as a significant nod to India’s military history and territorial integrity. As the celebrations concluded, he reiterated his commitment to upholding the secular fabric of the nation, urging his “fellow Indians” to protect the democratic essence that makes the country unique on the global stage.
