High Court Adjourns iBomma Ravi’s Bail Plea for Three Days

The Telangana High Court has postponed the hearing of the bail petition filed by Imandi Ravi, popularly known as iBomma Ravi, the prime accused in a massive movie piracy case. Ravi, who is currently held at Chanchalguda Jail as a remand prisoner, moved the High Court after his bail applications were previously rejected by the Nampalli court. During the hearing on Tuesday, the High Court decided to adjourn the matter until this coming Friday to allow for further proceedings and police counters.

Cyber Crime police, who arrested Ravi following his arrival in Hyderabad based on email tracking, have registered four distinct cases against him. Investigators informed the court that Ravi had built a sophisticated piracy empire by setting up servers and employing agents across both domestic and international locations. The police highlighted that the accused had even openly mocked law enforcement on his website, boasting that he could never be caught—a challenge that led to a dedicated operation to apprehend him.

Despite intensive questioning, reports suggest that iBomma Ravi has been non-cooperative with the investigation. He has reportedly avoided providing specific answers regarding the overseas data infrastructure and the network of collaborators involved in the operation. With the Telugu film industry suffering significant financial losses due to piracy, the police are opposing bail on the grounds that he might tamper with digital evidence. The industry now awaits the High Court’s decision on Friday with bated breath.
