Mohan Babu University Row: Kidnapping Allegations and Legal Action

Actor Mohan Babu and his namesake university (MBU) have been embroiled in a fresh controversy following allegations of kidnapping student union leaders. A case has reportedly been registered against the veteran actor at the Tiruchanur Police Station based on a complaint filed by representatives of a student organization. The tension escalated after student leaders accused the university management of using forceful tactics to suppress protests against high tuition fees.

The conflict began when the Student Federation of India (SFI) called for a protest at the District Collectorate on Tuesday to voice concerns over the university’s fee structure. During the mobilization, two prominent leaders, Akbar and Vinod, suddenly went missing. Following an immediate complaint by the SFI, District SP Subbarayudu formed special police teams to track the missing persons. The teams successfully intercepted a vehicle near Naravaripalli, rescued the leaders, and detained several individuals suspected to be bouncers employed by Mohan Babu University.

In response, the management of Mohan Babu University has dismissed these claims as a targeted smear campaign. They filed a counter-complaint at the Chandragiri Police Station, alleging that certain individuals are spreading “false propaganda” on digital platforms to tarnish the institution’s reputation. The university administration claims that unknown persons are using defamatory videos on social media in an attempt to extort money from the management. As the police continue their investigation into both the kidnapping charges and the defamation claims, the situation remains tense in the Tirupati region.
